    Wildlife in Lake Mburo National Park is one of Uganda’s most iconic wilderness safaris and adventures. The Park lies in the southwestern part of Uganda in Nyabushozi county Kiruhura district. It is the smallest savannah National Park in Uganda and one of the closest Parks to the city that can be easily accessed within a day which is a four-hour drive to the Park from the city.     The wildlife in Lake Mburo is more than 68 mammal species. It is the only park in Uganda with impala, eland, and klipspringer. It is also a home for zebras, buffaloes, warthogs, leopards, topi, bushbucks, hyenas, and jackals. There are no elephants or lions in the park which makes it suitable for walking safaris.

These two species are the flagship species for Lake Mburo and are the only place in Uganda to see the majestic impala and the only easily accessible place to see Burchell’s zebra. During the dry season, animals tend to congregate around the swamps and lakes; this is a remarkable photo opportunity – a magnitude of wild African animals with sparkling lakes in the background.

    Wildlife in Lake Mburo is not the only species found here but also bird species more than 350 birdlife have been recorded within the Park and these can be easily spotted in the woodlands, swamps, forests, lakes, and savannah vegetation. Among the species are the red-faced barbet, the endemic African finfoot and rare shoebill, the papyrus yellow warbler, the saddle-billed stork, the chested lapwing, and the African wattled lapwing. Acacia woodland bird species are also well represented while forest species can be found in the Rubanga forest for example the blue-breasted and kingfisher.
