    Lake Mburo National Park is the smallest and closest savanna national park to the city of Kampala and Entebbe Airport. It is also where giraffes and zebras roam around in plenty, so you can freely walk on your foot, ride a bicycle or even get on horseback to view most of the wildlife within and outside the park.

    There is a lot to see in this park, ranging from wildlife, bird species, and other flora and fauna, in countless numbers.

    More About What to See in Lake Mburo National Park

    Lots of wildlife can be seen here. Lake Mburo houses over 68 mammal species, with impalas and zebras being common here and in Kidepo Valley National Park. Several antelope species can also be seen, including topis, duikers, oribis, Bohor reedbuck and klipspringer. Elephants and lions are absent in this park, but herds of buffaloes are quite common. Several Rothschild’s giraffes have been recently reintroduced, and are steadily reproducing.

    A healthy population of leopards is present, although mostly seen at night. Hippos and crocodiles can be found on the shores of the lake and can be seen while on a boat cruise on Lake Mburo.

    Over 350 bird species, both migratory and residential birds, can be found in the diversity of rolling hills, woodlands, forests, seasonal and permanent swamps, lakes, savannah vegetation, and sticking landscape, both inside and outside the park. A bonus for birders is the swamps, in which six papyrus endemics are resident.

    In a nutshell, Lake Mburo offers beyond what you imagine as a simple trip to a more diverse experience full of joy and memories, just tied and bounded within this small savannah park.
