The famous salt-licking experience in Lake Mburo National Park is one of the must-sees in the park where many animals are seen licking the salty soil. While in Lake Mburo National Park, a walk to the nearby salt-licking area is a summary of it all.
A strategically located wooden hide or observation point, offers you a chance to see at least 4 different species of animals at any one time, while they are licking the salty soil. Herds of buffaloes can be spotted here with their heads covered within the salty mad.
‘Kate Salt Lick’ is one of the water points in Lake Mburo National Park in southwestern Uganda, where the famous salt-licking experience can be seen. It is one of the must-go areas in the park because most of the animals can be seen here licking the salty soil.
The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has also recently built a raised wooden platform that’s hidden far away in the nearby bush but provides excellent views of wildlife in the salt-licking area.
More Activities Beside Salt Licking in Lake Mburo National Park
The salt lick in Lake Mburo is the best place to take a guided nature walk which can last for about one and a half or two hours. Visitors will also be able to see a variety of bird species on the way, with many animals like zebras, impalas, bushbucks, waterbucks, bush babies, reedbucks, and many others.
The most interesting to note is that this is done without the animal’s conscience.
