Leopard Rest Campsite is an amazing place to enjoy the breath of fresh air on an overland trip in Lake Mburo National Park. The camp is found on the border of Lake Mburo National Park, that’s about 2 minute drive from the Nshara gate and approximately 8 km from the main road.
The campsite is an eco-friendly site right next to the zebra track in the land next to the camp. It is also budget-friendly with a variety of accommodation facilities suitable for all guests, including those on budgets. So, you will enjoy even when camping with your own equipment or lazy camping with en-suite safari tents.
Camping in Leopard Rest Camp can be charged per night. This is a perfect place to relax in a hammock and enjoy the stunning view of rolling green hills while listening to the sounds of hundreds of birds singing.
Facilities at Leopard Rest Camp
Leopard Rest Campsite has a number of services that are provided to guests that bring you close to nature. The bar/restaurant where you can enjoy delicious meals prepared by our senior chef, and cool drinks are served at any time you feel like.
In addition, we provide three main meals a day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner in different options. The safari tents are comfortable and have a wonderful outside bathroom and options in accommodation based on your budget and preferences.
The rest camp also provides laundry services to all categories of visitors at affordable rates, a pool table, and some games that keep you busy over the evening hour as at your hand.
Activities at the Campsite
Leopard Rest Campsite offers custom bike safaris, walking safaris and safari game drives, both inside and outside the park. All this gives you a chance to spot a variety of wild animals, including elands, zebras, antelopes, waterbucks, and lions among others.
Birding is one of the other major activities visitors can do while staying at Leopard Rest Campsite. This is usually carried out in different places, such as, the acacia woodland along with the acacia and research tracks.
Some birders continue to the swampy valleys of Miriti and the Warukiri as well as the roadsides between Rwonyo camp. The salt licking area also hosts different bird species. One can also decide to do bird watching in Rubanga Forest and Miriti valley. The notable birds for you to spot out include crested francolin, red-necked spurfowl, and brown parrot among others.
Staying at Leopard Rest Campsite is a worthy night while visiting the local communities that surround the Lake Mburo National Park. The Banyakole community in Kiruhura district are the common people found here, so you can visit them to be introduced to their traditional culture and local way of life. Typical village houses can be visited and Ankole guides will explain their people’s history and lifestyle. They are mainly cattle keepers with some domestic agriculture.
