Enjoy a guided nature walk safari in Lake Mburo National Park to get more connected to nature and the environment within the park. Unlike other national parks in Uganda, Lake Mburo is a park where you can walk in any direction within the park on your own wish provided that you are escorted by a park game ranger or guide.
A walk in the park here is considered the safest since the only wild cat here is the leopards, and they are shy to humans, which means you are safer here.
In the direction to Rwonyo, an area within the park, the guided nature walk will lead you to a salt-licking experience, where you will find many animals that are attracted to the salty rocks and water. Many animals gather at this spot to leak the salty soil and rock at this point, including impalas, zebras, buffaloes, kobs, and other antelopes.
Guided Nature Walk in Lake Mburo National Park
The walks on the western side of this lake usually begin at 7:00 am and will take about 2 hours. You will meet many animals along the way, including hyenas that are returning to their dens or winding up after the morning kill. Don’t miss to spot hippos returning from the lake, to utilize the cool hours, to graze and fill their stomach before the sun becomes too hot for their skin.
Nine of the fourteen magnificent lakes within Lake Mburo National Park can be seen when hiking on top of a hill, while on your guided nature walk. The views are so striking and unforgettable indeed.
Rubanga forest is also an ideal place to take a nature-guided walk because it’s a birders’ paradise. Forest birds and mammals can be seen in the woodlands. Such animals that are often seen on these nature walks include zebras, topis, impalas, warthogs, buffaloes, and many more.
The nature walk gives you a chance to stretch out yourself as you relax from long driving hours. You’re also able to figure out your way along the mashes in search of more wildlife.
You can make an extension to visit Bwindi Forest on a budget gorilla safari to encounter the mountain gorillas. For those that wish to see mountain gorillas in Rwanda, visit Volcanoes National Park, which is famous for gorillas and golden monkeys.
