One of the bird species in Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda

Lake Mburo National Park is the best place for birding adventure and for acacia dwelling birds. Rubanga forest that is also situated around Lake Mburo has most forest birds, not forgetting some of the migratory birds which are always present from November to April.

Some of the notable birds in this park include the African wattled lapwing, bare-faced Go-away-bird, black-bellied bustard, and greater painted snipe among others.

The best time for bird watching in Lake Mburo National Park is mostly when you’re interested in the migratory birds, and that is between November to April. The months of March to May receive quite heavy rains and as a result this delays and gives limits to your bird watching experience.

June to August is a period of less rainfall, so it is convenient for all kinds of tourist activities within the park.

Other bird species and spots in Lake Mburo

Other birds species in Lake Mburo include the grey-crowned (crested) crane, African fin foot, papyrus yellow warbler, yellow billed duck, grey snipe bird, white winged barber, and green and white tailored pelicans. Don’t miss out on long tailored cisticola, yellow warbler, yellow breasted apalis, pink backed pelicans, the rare shoebill stork and several other birds of Lake Mburo National Park.
